The landscapes in Ubatuba are impressive. The meeting of the Serra do Mar with the ocean creates stunning scenery in the region.

Eco-tourism is another good option. The Serra do Mar Park, created in 1977, in the north of Ubatuba, is the largest park in São Paulo and there are preservation areas of the Atlantic Forest.
Ubatuba is 234 km from São Paulo and 324 km from Rio de Janeiro, bordering Paraty to the north.

Adventure Sports -Ubatuba
In addition to the great wealth of fauna and flora, the entire region is ideal for practicing extreme sports, such as surfing, diving, sailing, fishing, trekking, ecotourism and activities related to hang gliding.
Surf
Ubatuba is the “Capital of Surfing” and if you want to practice the sport, this is the ideal place. The best beaches for practicing the sport are Vermelha do Norte, Vermelha do centro, Itamambuca, canto esquerda do Félix and Praia Grande. For skimboarding, Sununga beach is the best.
Stand up Paddle
Several beaches with calm waters are perfect for practicing this sport, such as Barra Seca and even Praia do Cruzeiro. In the northern region, one of the best-known routes is the crossing from Praia do Prumirim to Ilha do Prumirim. You can even rent equipment.
Canoeing
In addition to practicing Hawaiian Canoe (Va'a) as a sport, the city has places suitable for canoeing. In addition to the Fazenda River, Puruba Beach is one of the most popular for practicing canoeing, due to its calm waters. And in Ubatuba we also have the caiçara canoe as a cultural protagonist.
Cycle tourism
From north to south, there are several trails and dirt roads for practicing the sport, such as the route from Itaguá to the Ponta Grossa lighthouse, or the one that leads to the Tombador waterfall in the Ubatumirim backlands. In addition, as the Rio Santos highway has a lot of uphill and downhill sections, it is very common to come across people cycling in the area. You just need to be extra careful, due to the traffic.
Climbing/bolder
One of the highlights of the city for bouldering (a form of rock climbing) is the pier at Fortaleza beach – considered one of the best formations in Brazil for this activity. The various blocks, with the most varied grades, allow everyone to enjoy climbing, from beginners to professionals.
Rappelling
Enjoying a descent in dry environments, using ropes, specific procedures and equipment with a beautiful view… who hasn’t wanted to? Overcoming your fear of heights and allowing yourself to descend a rock wall surrounded by forest is certainly an excellent experience. In Ubatuba, some places to practice are Gruta do Pirata, Gruta que Chora and Pedra Grande (inside the pousada das caius).
Waterfallism
The Pedra Grande waterfall is one of the places where this sport is practiced, as is the Veu da Noiva waterfall. After applying the vertical techniques and practicing the descent, there is a stop for you to enjoy the waters in the waterfall pool.
Canyoning
Adventure activity where you can walk through watercourses, rivers and streams using vertical techniques. In Ubatuba, canyoning can be practiced at the Água Branca Waterfall, where you can travel along the Água Branca River in three vertical descents, and you can bathe in the waterfall that is over 150m high.
Dive
With so many beaches and a long coastline, diving in Ubatuba is guaranteed to be a pleasure. You can practice free diving, scuba diving and professional diving. The city is home to some of the best diving spots in the country, such as Anchieta Island, as well as other places like Couves Island – which provide beautiful images, especially with the diversity of marine fauna and flora.
Fluctuation
It consists of shallow diving in rivers, seas or lakes with calm and clear waters, providing direct contact with nature, observing rocks, aquatic fauna and flora with the help of masks, snorkels, life jackets and fins.
Some suitable places to practice are the so-called natural pools, such as Praia da Fortaleza, Ilha do Prumirim, Ilha das Couves and beaches on Ilha Anchieta.
Bird Watching Bird Whatching
Ubatuba has more than 80% of its total area preserved by the Atlantic Forest, and has around 540 different species of birds, which inhabit this privileged piece of nature on the Southeast coast of Brazil. Birds are everywhere, including in the city center, and a great option to contemplate them is to visit the Cambucá Birdwatching Center managed by the Serra do Mar State Park (PESM), Picinguaba Center and the City Hall of Ubatuba.
